New Year's Day in Key West

These are cruise ships docked at Mallory Square. They are the Celebration and the Westerdam. The island is Sunset Key with the boat shuttle in the foreground.
We began our Duval crawl in 2005 and concluded it in 2006. The crawl is a walk from the Gulf of Mexico to the Atlantic Ocean, 14 blocks long from Mallory Square to the southernmost point of the United States that is 90 miles from Cuba. We started at Mallory Square on New Year's Eve after sunset and did the first 7 blocks. On New Year's night, we finished.
On New Year's Eve, we didn't make it to midnight for the Key West fireworks. Mel and I returned to the RV in time to see Dick Clark and the ball drop in Times Square in New York city.
On New Year's day, we took the Conch train tour, a 90 minute narrated ride around Key West. It was a great way to learn the history of the area, see the great architecture, and enjoy all the silly little anecdotes about the people, who made Key West what it is today.
The day after, we had lunch at the historic Turtle Krall, then we took a ride on the Glass Bottom Boat to the coral reef. We enjoyed watching people parasail over the Gulf. It was such a perfect day at sea. We finished off our time in Key West at a lovely garden restaurant, Mangia Mangia.
