Magic Kingdom Welcomes You

Posted by Picasa

Today, February 3rd, is a rainy day at Disney so we thought we'd share this happy picture of our arrival at the Magic Kingdom yesterday. Doesn't it look like a postcard? How can we not love it here?

It really started pouring rain early this morning. So we decided to leave the property and head north to the town of Winter Park. We read that this was a picturesque community. Since it was north of Orlando, we managed to get ourselves into a major traffic jam. We reached this little haven of bliss at lunch time so we found a cute little shopping center with a Cheesecake Factory and had a lovely lunch. Down the block was a movie theater, what a nice surprise! As it was still storming like mad, we took in two movies-no need to rush.
The first movie was The World's Fastest Indian, with Anthony Hopkins, a delightful, charming true story of a New Zealander, Burt Munro. Not a frame of this movie is wasted. It never makes a false move. This movie is now our new classic and classy movie. It will go into our collection as soon as it comes out in DVD. This movie comes the closest to explaining and understanding Mel and his passion for machines.
Then, we saw Transamerica, with Felicity Huffman, who has been nominated for an Oscar as Best Actress. Since I haven't seen all the movies with Best Actress nominations, I cannot fully judge, but I can very much understand Felicity's nomination. What a role! Much to our surprise, the story was much lighter than we thought it would be considering the subject matter. I'm not sure that this is a movie for everyone, but if you liked Brokeback Mountain, this is a better story.
