In the Weeds

Look very carefully at this picture. There is an American alligator lurking in the weeds. If you are having trouble seeing it, look at the top green leaf on the left of the screen. That is the nose and the body is the black bump in the middle of the picture.
Finally, we made it to the Everglades. That has been on my list of things to see for years. It was an absolutely perfect day to go gator hunting.
We were treated to this adventure by niece, Susan, and nephew-in-law, Reid. The Kelley family lives in a lovely suburb west of Fort Lauderdale, Weston, FL. There development is close to the Everglades.
We piled into Susan's Honda with plenty of room for the seven of us. John, 8, and Will, 11, rode in the way back with Conor, 12, sitting between Susan and me, while Reid drove and Mel rode shotgun. We drove to the Everglades Holiday Park.
On a narrated air boat ride, through the bayous of the swamp, we were treated to views of rare swamp birds, raccoons and, of course, alligators. We all enjoyed the experience and were glad that it was a cool day because a hot humid day would have been miserable there on the water.
