Redlands Agriculture Area

Posted by Picasa

Here are coconut palm trees at the Fruit and Spice Park, which is located on Coconut Palm Road and run by the Dade County Park System.

We spent the day exploring the South Florida agricultural area, called the Redlands. (Mel rolled his eyes the whole time.) The Fruit and Spice Park exhibits tropical fruit and spice trees from all over the world in a 35 acre preserve. Fortunately, with Mel's attitude, there was a narrated tram tour so the trees were identified for us instead of just walking around trying to figure it out. Mel did concede that he appreciates that there are people in this world who are so knowledgeable about the food sources that eventually appears on our tables.
After the tour, we continued down Coconut Palm Road and found the Knaus Berry Farmstand. They are known for their strawberry fields, homemade cinnammon rolls and ice cream. So we bought a pint of strawberries, rolls and ice cream. Yummy!
